David Gibbins 1957 - 2024

Feb 26 2024

Dear All,

On behalf of the club and committee, we're saddened to tell you that David passed away on the night of 5th February 2024 following an illness. He served as the Club's Treasurer from 2017 - 2022 using his professional expertise to restructure our finances put them on a sound footing. He will be missed by all of us who knew and worked with him.
His good friend and fellow club member, Denis Bass is our contact for the funeral arrangements and if you plan to attend, please contact him rather than reply to this email.

He writes: "Following the recent passing of our dear friend David, I can now provide you with some preliminary details of his funeral:
It will take place on Friday 8th March at 11am at St Peter the Apostle Church, Belgrave Road, Seaford BN25 2HE, this will be followed by a burial where family members ONLY will attend whilst other guests will proceed to the Seaford Head Golf Course, The View Restaurant, Southdown Road, Seaford, BN25 4JS, where the wake will be held.
Please note, there is ample parking at the wake, however parking at the Church is roadside parking only, but the location is close to a number of roads where parking is available.
To ensure we are able to cater for those of you who would like to attend the funeral service and the wake please notify me directly with a response to this email, BEFORE Thurs 22nd Feb, advising me of the names of those of you who would like to join us. Ann, Vicky and Michelle would be very pleased to see those who are able to attend.
On behalf of Ann, I will collate a list of names attending, an early reply to this email would be very much appreciated.
If you are unable to attend and you have any message for Ann and the family please don't respond to this email but instead and I will ensure it is forwarded directly to Ann.

Regards
Denis"

In addition David's family have asked us to add the following:

Google Map link to The View at Seaford Head: https://maps.app.goo.gl/K3mGVDFU7EYeLp7W9
The venue for the wake has a deadline for the booking, would you please, if you haven't already contacted Denis, confirm your desire to be there with us by no later than next Thursday 22nd February

Flowers and Donations
David has requested that there are family flowers only at the funeral.  It was his desire that should anyone wish to make a contribution in his name in place of flowers that this goes to St Wilfrid's Hospice. The Hospice cared for David and the family during his final 8 weeks with us. They were incredibly kind and caring and their dedication to ensuring David was looked after, supported, comfortable and pain free was second to none.
There is a dedicated 'Much Loved' page, where all of David's friends and family are welcome to make a contribution directly to the hospice. The link for this page is below, and there will also be a 'QR Code' on the order of service available on Friday 8th March.

Ann, Michelle and Vicky would like to thank everyone for the cards, messages, flowers, condolences and kind words of support during the truly difficult time for us all.
